See Clearly with Vision Correction

Achieve 20/20 without glasses or contacts. What a concept.

Wearing glasses or contacts can put limitations on the activities you participate in and on your overall enjoyment in life. From self-esteem issues with glasses to the pain and discomfort of wearing contacts every day, many people find that their corrective lenses no longer suit their lifestyle needs.

At Wilmington Eye, our team of board-certified refractive surgeons can help you eliminate your need for corrective lenses, giving you crystal-clear vision without the burden of glasses or contacts. We’ve helped thousands of patients see 20/20 or better following vision correction surgery. What would you do if you could see clearly without your glasses or contacts?

How Vision Correction Changed Whitney’s Life

Why is My Vision So Poor?

Clear vision depends on how light rays are focused, or “refracted”, through your eye. The shape of your cornea, the power of the lens, and the length of your eyeball all determine how well the eye refracts light. When the eye cannot properly refract light, the results are what’s referred to as a refractive error, which leads to less-than-optimal vision. But vision correction can change all that.

Normal Vision

With the absence of a refractive error, light rays are accurately and clearly focused directly on the retina. This allows people without refractive error to see all objects clearly.

Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Nearsightedness (myopia) occurs when the cornea is too steep or the eyeball is too long. Images of distant objects are blurred, but close objects are clear.

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

Farsightedness (hyperopia) results when the cornea is too flat or the eyeball is too short, causing near objects to appear blurred. Some farsighted people cannot focus on distant or near objects.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism occurs when the curvature of the cornea is uneven and is shaped more like a football than a baseball. This creates multiple focal points in the eye, making it difficult to focus on objects clearly
