Wilmington Eye Surgery Center Now Open

The region’s first freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) dedicated to vision-related procedures is now open and accepting surgical patients!
Today, Wilmington Eye celebrated the grand opening of Wilmington Eye Surgery Center, eastern North Carolina’s first freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) dedicated to vision-related procedures. The 15,500-square-foot facility began operating on its first patients today as part of a staged rollout.
The new facility is located on 1919 S. 16th Street, at the heart of midtown Wilmington and less than a mile from Novant NHRMC hospital. The physician-owned facility is licensed for two new operating rooms and four minor procedure rooms and will allow the practice to perform vision-related surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, refractive or vision correction surgery, blepharoplasty, strabismus surgery, and cancer reconstructive surgery—all at a lower cost to patients.
Prior to the grand opening, Wilmington Eye performed these types of outpatient procedures at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington SurgCare, Wilmington Surgical Associates, and more. The leadership team at Wilmington Eye has previously stated that the facility allows the practice to carry out its mission to deliver high-quality surgical vision care with greater affordability to patients.
