Vision Care in Mayfaire Shopping Center with Wilmington Eye

Wilmington Eye’s Mayfaire office offers eye care, advanced surgical vision care, and a full-service optical shop, all conveniently located in the Mayfaire shopping center. Since opening in March of 2022, we’ve expanded access to specialized eyecare to nearby residents and people who work in the Mayfaire area.

Locals may recognize this office by its former name, Intracoastal Eye. Wilmington Eye and Intracoastal Eye merged back in 2022, and patients can still be seen by Dr. Gail Kelley, the original optometrist with Intracoastal Eye.

Our team of providers in Mayfaire includes board-certified ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Travis Jenkins, who specializes in advanced cataract surgery and premium intraocular lenses. Dr. Jenkins has an extensive background performing LASIK eye surgery and treating various corneal conditions.

Our provider team is also comprised of experienced optometrists Dr. Richard Ayuso and Dr. Gail Kelley. Both provide adult eyecare in the form of comprehensive eye exams, pre-and-post-operative care, and the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Dr. Ayuso is known as Wilmington Eye’s most experienced optometrist with over 35 years of experience. Through his years of practice, Dr. Ayuso has helped patients with conditions such as anterior segment disease and glaucoma. Dr. Kelley also brings years of experience to her practice with exceptional knowledge on contact lens care, retinal health, and diabetic management.

Getting to our Mayfaire office

Our office is located in the Offices at Mayfaire IV in Wilmington, NC on the first floor. Located across the street from The Forum, visitors can find us behind the Harris Teeter, centered near Wilmington Health and Southern Bank. If you see the Hilton Garden Inn and nCino, then you’re in the right place!

Wilmington locals can take their favorite route to Mayfaire, either from Eastwood Road or Military Cutoff to reach our office. Those coming from Eastwood Road will turn onto Town Center Drive, continuing through the traffic circle. Then, take your first right after the traffic circle onto Rock Spring Road. When you see the Hilton Garden Inn on your left, then the Wilmington Eye Mayfaire building is on your right, situated on the corner. Take another right and the building will be on your right—you’ll see the Wilmington Eye logo on the corner of the building labeled “The Offices at Mayfaire IV.” You can park in any one of the visitor spots in front of the building, or circle around to the other side of the building for more parking in the back, which is also closer to our entrance. Once you enter the building from the back entrance, you will see Wilmington Eye directly to your left.

Those traveling from Military Cutoff can turn onto Swan Mill Road (near the Chick-fil-a), then a left on Rock Spring Road. Again, when you see the Hilton Garden Inn, turn left and you should see Wilmington Eye on your right.

Residents of nearby communities like the Reserve at Mayfaire Apartments have the convenience of taking a short walk to their appointments, and our more active patients can bike or walk from the Cross City Trail by accessing the crosswalk on Autumn Hall Drive or at the intersection of Military Cutoff and Eastwood Road.
