An experienced and passionate provider serving the Southport community

Originally from Philadelphia, Sean Pitale, OD pursued his undergraduate studies at San Diego State University. Upon completion of his degree, Dr. Pitale traveled to the Carolinas, working as a television sports reporter and news anchor in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

His professional journey led him to optometry school in Puerto Rico, at Inter-America University. There, Dr. Pitale learned both Spanish and Optometry. After obtaining his optometric degree, he returned to the Carolinas to practice. Over the past 15 years, he has been serving patients in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Pitale is an active member of the America Optometry Association, serving as past president for his local region in South Carolina. He is a current member in North Carolina. He enjoys the variety of practicing optometry, specializing in eye disease treatment and management.

As a Lt. Colonel in the South Carolina Air National Guard, Dr. Pitale has been serving as the Chief of Optometry, and for 14 years has traveled around the world assisting in Military Medical missions.

I love what I do and consider taking care of my patients' visual needs the most important thing I can do. It's more than a profession to me, it's who I am. When you find what you do gives you joy, it's more than just a job, it's part of who you are.

Dr. Pitale enjoys traveling, playing the guitar, and being active. He has 2 sons, one currently living in Southport and the other a music student in Nashville, Tennessee. He joined Wilmington Eye in July of 2024 and looks forward to adding to and being a part of the Southport community.
