An optometrist with a focus on ocular disease management and contact lenses

Alexandra Muncy, OD joined the Wilmington Eye family in April of 2020. Skilled in a wide range of primary care optometry, her specialties include prescribing contact lenses, assessing and managing ocular diseases including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, and post-operative LASIK and cataract care. She is also a member of the North Carolina Optometric Society.

 

Dr. Muncy grew up in Kentucky and spent time vacationing at Wrightsville Beach as a child. During the years she spent visiting, she grew fond of the amenities of a coastal town. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Dr. Muncy then began the transition to Chicago where she attended Illinois College of Optometry. She then completed externships in Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois, and Georgia, where she focused on ocular disease management and contact lenses.

 

Dr. Muncy practiced in a combined optometry and ophthalmology practice in Lexington, Kentucky for two years before joining Wilmington Eye. She is very excited to help serve the community in our wonderful city.

I love practicing Optometry. It is so rewarding to make a real difference in someone’s quality of life.

In her free time, Dr. Muncy enjoys spending time with her dog, Julep. She also enjoys playing tennis, paddle boarding, and relaxing on the beach.
