George Escaravage, MD, FACS is a board-certified ophthalmologist and ASOPRS fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon with specialized expertise in the management of conditions affecting the eyelids and surrounding face, the tear drainage system, and the eye socket. He cares for patients of all ages with corrective, reconstructive, and cosmetic concerns centered around the eyes.
The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) is comprised of over 550 surgeons internationally who are trained and dedicated to providing state of the art, experienced care. Approximately 25 surgeons in the United States are selected each year for this highly specialized fellowship training.
Dr. Escaravage attended Davidson College, where he was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then received his M.D. with Distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. After completing a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Dr. Escaravage returned to North Carolina to complete his residency and ASOPRS fellowship with Dr. Jonathan Dutton. While at UNC-Chapel Hill, he was also selected to serve as Chief Resident before receiving a faculty appointment. He currently serves as a Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Dr. Escaravage routinely performs surgery for patients with drooping eyelids (adults and children), eyelid malpositions, uncontrolled tearing, and tumors/cancers of the eyelid and eye socket. He also has a special interest in the medical and surgical care of patients with facial spastic disorders and Grave’s thyroid eye disease. His training and practice also allow him to bring a unique perspective on periocular rejuvenation with cosmetic surgery, facial laser skin tightening/resurfacing, fillers such as Juvederm®, and wrinkle correction with Botox®.
