Free Blade-Free LASIK Treatment

Do you know the two-step LASIK process?

Do you know the two-step LASIK process?

At our office, an IntraLase® femtosecond laser is used to provide blade-free LASIK treatment to patients who wish to achieve increased independence from glasses and contact lenses. IntraLase® is the first laser technology designed to perform blade-free LASIK treatment and has become the benchmark for the industry.

All LASIK procedures involve the creation of a thin flap in the cornea. Traditional LASIK uses a device called a microkeratome to create the flap with the use of an oscillating metal blade whereas blade-free LASIK uses IntraLase® laser technology. After the flap is created, the curvature of the cornea is subtly enhanced through the use of another technology: an excimer laser. Its new shape allows light to be focused more directly onto the retina for greatly improved vision. Before an excimer laser is used, the physicians at Eye Associates of Wilmington are able to customize the creation of the flap by precisely adjusting the IntraLase® laser. These adjustments allow the LASIK flap to be made at the optimal depth for your specific vision requirements.

Our surgeons use this revolutionary LASIK treatment because of the superior precision of the IntraLase® Method. With the use of rapid pulses of light instead of the blade of a microkeratome, this laser technology represents the most precise means available to create the flap during the LASIK procedure.

If you would like to speak with a member of our staff about the blade-free LASIK procedure, contact our office today for a complimentary consultation.
